City council of Nairobi has issued a tender of Ksh 10 million aimed to carryout renovation at Woodley grounds in Kibera. Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony at Joseph Kang’ethe community centre and sports ground. City Council of Nairobi town clerk Philip Kisia said the project is not only aimed at improving skills in football among Kibera youth but also to create job opportunities, a move that will help fight use of drugs and idleness. Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa on his part said the council fully supports the project as it will help nurture upcoming professional players upon completion. According to Isack Abdulilahi who was awarded the tender, construction works will take a maximum of three to four weeks. Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be expected to officially open the community center and sports ground upon completion.
